Mission Statement

A non-profit independent film, art, and technology center that supports every aspect of production from idea to distribution. Our goal is to educate, train, and develop emerging artists of all ages to be active participants in shaping our 21st century culture.

Description

Austin School of Film/Motion Media Arts Center is dedicated to teaching media literacy through the creation and presentation of art incorporating moving imagery. We define media arts as works made from film, video, and/or by digital means, either alone or in combination with such practices as performance, installation, drawing, photography, and sculpture. Motion encourages a wide range of artistic production by its students, from five-minute narrative films to abstract digital animations conceived for a gallery space. We stress the importance of seeing the creative process through and hope to generate a dialogue about using emerging and established media to visually and experientially explore new concepts
