Mission Statement

Art Feeds is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization that exists to mobilize creative healing and encourage creative development. We are a Mobile Arts Center and community of individuals dedicated to the growth and healing of children through art. Art Feeds is based out of Joplin, MO and conducts mobile programs within schools and after school programs on a consistent basis with elementary students who have undergone trauma and overcome obstacles. The programs use therapeutic art and creative education that comes free of cost to the participating students and schools.

Art Feeds strives to live by the lessons the children teach us, these are to- Love Naively. Give Generously. Be Foolishly Compassionate.

Description

Art programs provide 30-60 minutes of instruction weekly to the schools we serve to create a stable and growing relationship with the students through therapeutic art and creative education. These programs come completely free of cost to students, parents, and teachers. All supplies and innovative cirriculum is provided. Art Feeds serves over 3,000 children weekly with teams of 3 or 4 enthusiastic educators to create a high student to educator ratio and an encouraging environment for the children we serve. Art Feeds strives to cultivate an environment where students are empowered to express themselves, thereby mobilizing creative healing. Students are exposed to painting, drawing, dancing, sculpting, writing, music, photography, performing arts, and more. We use these forms of expression to help the students explore, express and integrate emotional expression through visual, performing and creative arts. Our programs and processes are created to facilitate healing as well as cognitive and developmental growth.

I volunteered with Art Feeds in the classrooms where they teach kids their supposedly "therapeutic art" lessons. What I learned is that Art Feeds does not come even close to what they claim to do. The art lessons are run very poorly. The lessons are not therapeutic at all and are written by unqualified interns, who pull them off of crafts websites online. The kids get very little attention, even though art feeds claims to have a 4:1 child:educator ratio. The crafts are poor quality. The staff is very mean and manipulative and ungrateful the work of volunteers, using them as a way to get free labor to build a sketchy non profit where the funds are being laundered into their own personal salaries. I would not recommend getting involved with Art Feeds in any way. It's very existence is a shame and abomination on humanity.
