Mission Statement
Homeroom designs artistic projects and programs with two core values: conversation and collaboration. We faciltates and builds programming structures with artists, audiences, curators and venues to create an artistic dialogue with shared and far-reaching impact.
Description
Homeroom is currently running 6 programs in Chicago:
Annual programs:
Emerging and Established Artist Exchange - A one-on-one mentorship/apprenticeship program that allows young artists in Chicago a chance to collaborate with an established artist in their field on an exhibition, presentation or project of their own creation.
Physics for Listeners - A commissioned concert series that presents new work from young composers in both the contemporary classical and jazz/improvised scenes in Chicago.
Ten x Ten - Ten visual artists and ten bands or musicians are paired to create a suite of ten 10-inch prints accompanied by a 10-song compilation.
Ongoing series:
101 at the Hungry Brain - An informal lecture series that brings artists, writers, and performers together to shed new light on subjects from all points on the cultural spectrum.
Songwriter Showcase at Elastic Arts - A showcase and open mic that features two of the city’s top performers and explores the art of songwriting.
The Youtube Assembly at The Nightingale - An opportunity for artists and scholars to use the visual resource of Youtube to illuminate a specific subject as well as make connections between their work and the culture at large.
