Mission Statement

The Indian Institute for Rural Development is a nonprofit voluntary organization devoted to facilitating sustainable development through a variety of approaches. IIRD strives to assist socio-economically deprived and disadvantaged groups in Indian society by generating means for basic needs, such as health, water, education, employment, and livelihoods.

Description

The overall objectives of the Institute are to: Promote active participation of community and administration for better qualitative human resource development Provide access to essential services in health, water and sanitation, education and economic development to the unprivileged in a sustainable and gender sensitive manner Capacity building of poor communities to facilitate them in improving their living conditions Assist communities in sustainable development and management of natural resources Create awareness among the masses about the importance of education, health, good sanitation practices and status of women Inspire behavioral change in communities in the direction of equal rights and duties for all members of society Develop the Institute as a nodal center for development planning, management and evaluation Dialogue and network with like-minded voluntary organizations
