Mission Statement

The New York Piano Society, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and developing concert artists whose primary profession or field of study lies outside the field of music.

NYPS presents regular public recitals, each featuring a selection of members, that have been enthusiastically received by our audiences. This format enables us to provide a nourishing environment for the development of the performer, and to present a selection of personalities and variety of solo and chamber repertoire for the enjoyment of the concert-goer. We have presented concerts in New York City at Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall), Baruch Performing Arts Center, Hunter College, Concert Hall of the German Consulate, Steinway Hall, Liederkranz Hall, and in New Jersey at Lenfell Hall of Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Description

NYPS was founded in 2005 by pianist Elena Leonova. The growing membership covers a broad spectrum of vocations and ages, brought together by a shared experience that is founded simply on their love for the piano and for classical music. Currently there are scientists, journalists, medical doctors, lawyers, financial analysts, entrepreneurs, graphic artists, an airline pilot, college students majoring not in music and a police officer among our members.
