Description
The Discovery Center is a non-profit, award-winning organization founded by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in 2002. The program is located at Camp Woodstock in Woodstock Valley, Connecticut, and is designed to educate 4th, 5th and 6th grade students from various schools in Connecticut about diversity and getting along with each other, as well as strengthening their skills in math, science, social studies, and language arts. The Discovery Center believes in creating "A Classrom Without Walls...For a Future Without Prejudice."
Schools are paired up with a partner school in hopes of exposing them to other cultures and to make new friends. The students stay at Camp Woodstock overnight and participate in various activities together.
