NCR’s Building Better Communities (BBC) AmeriCorps program is designed to build community and civic responsibility in youth and adults in Central Ohio from low-to moderate-income communities.
AmeriCorps members will build civic engagement, environmental awareness, and community involvement through 3 distinctive programs.
After School & Summer Youth Program: Youth in grades one through six will participate in after school and summer programming at NCR properties five days a week, and will receive homework assistance, a healthy snack, as well as take part in the Building Better Communities educational programming that focuses on civic responsibility, community engagement, and the environment.
Adult Engagement Program: The goal of the adult engagement initiative is to assist residents living in NCR’s Supportive Housing communities to re-engage and give back to the community. Residents will be introduced to employment skills and training through engaging community based volunteer experiences.
Community Service & Volunteer Engagement Program: Part of being civically invested in your community is giving back through service. Throughout the year AmeriCorps members will work with youth, families, and partnering organizations to plan and implement community service projects.
