Mission Statement

The New York Military Youth Cadets, Inc. (N.Y.M.Y.C., Inc.) is a non-profit multicultural community based organization. Our Division of Youth Services provides a military based program for boys and girls between the ages of twelve and eighteen years old.

Our objective is to develop self-confidence, discipline, respect for society, cultural awareness, fundamental leadership traits, and to perform veterans and community out-reach. Furthermore, we strive to teach our Cadets to take the initiative by leading and educating their peers about the dangers of gangs, drugs, and alcohol abuse. Paramount in our Cadet Corps is the importance of family values, excellence in school, and community involvement.

Description

The NYMYC's was founded for the purpose of providing relief and assistance to the poor, distressed and underprivileged residents of New York State and Queens area. This is accomplished by working diligently for the promotion of public awareness through military programs developed to lessen neighborhood tensions such as violence, illegal use of personal drugs eliminate prejudice, discrimination, to combat community deterioration.

In the furtherance of these charitable and educational objectives the New York Military Youth Cadets, Inc. shall disseminate information and provide technical assistance to area residents on subjects useful and beneficial to the community, including youth services, healthy awareness, crime prevention, neighborhood beautification, domestic violence awareness, veterans outreach, English as a second language (ESL) assistance, community gardens, and area school involvement.
