Coopdanza, Inc EIN# 27-2187668 Coopdanza is an interdisciplinary arts and educational Indigenous organization that supports the development of powerful and innovative work focusing primarily in multimedia digital technology and the power of dance. We provide environmental and cultural awareness inspired on Indigenous American Legacy. Coopdanza engages in local and international collaborations among diverse disciplines and partners to provide environmental and cultural awareness inspired in Indigenous American Legacy.

Description

Our framework comes from the knowledge of peoples from the Abya Yala also known as today, the Americas: the Quiche Maya and the Aztec culture from Mesoamerica; the Inca culture from Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia; the Nasa, Yanacona and Misak culture from the Colombian Andes, cultures belonging to the Inca Empire brought up to the south of the Andean mountains in Colombia by the Spaniards; the Taino culture from Haiti, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico; the Mapuche culture from Chile and Argentina.

"Eagle/Condor/Swap/Program" or the AYCE - Abya Yala Cultural Exchange- will be happening in New York from March to December 2016. It’s a regenerative cultural Indigenous swap or trueque involving educational outreach, creative workshops, lecture-demonstrations and artistic exchange. With dance, storytelling, poetry, music, linguistic conservation, swapping of plants traditional medicine and seed protection knowledge. Regional participation from: Taino, Mexica, Kicwha, Muisca, Oneida/Ojibwe and the Lakota Nations. International Guests from: Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Canada.
