Mission Statement

The Foster Animal Network of Gainesville recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who provide love, care, and temporary homes to animals who run out of time at the public shelter. We collaborate with many different rescue groups to help them extend their resources in order to help as many animals as possible.

Description

Fostering a homeless dog or cat is a great way to experience the joys of living with a pet without a permanent commitment. Foster homes make it possible for rescue groups to take in animals who would otherwise be euthanized, so that they have time to wait for the perfect permanent home. Foster homes also help make pets more adoptable by giving them experience living in a home and providing details about their personalities.

Fostering costs nothing except time and love. The animal rescue/adoption organization provides all food and supplies and pays for all veterinary care.

You can foster if you already have a pet, and you can foster if you’ve never had a pet. Rescue groups provide advice and assistance, and free obedience training class are available for dogs in foster care.

We need fosters who can make an open ended commitment and also fosters for 7-day quarantine holds, especially for dogs. You can foster a single time or more than once.
