Mission Statement

The mission of Covenant House California, with shelters in both Hollywood and Oakland, is to protect and safeguard all children of the street, giving each one the absolute respect and unconditional love he or she needs to thrive.

Description

Covenant House California has helped forge brighter futures for tens of thousands of homeless youth ages 18-21 since its founding in December 1988.

We start by addressing a youth's most pressing needs: food, refuge, and health services. We then offer our youth the tools they will need to turn their lives around -- education, job skills training, and employment placement.

Visitors to our Hollywood and Oakland shelters are often struck by the comprehensive nature of the services our youth have access to -- as well as the warm, campus-like environment where they live. We seek to create an environment that inspires our youth to reach their fullest potential.

Our work is made possible by our dedicated Board of Directors and Advisors Council, our Bay Area Leadership Council, and a cadre of tireless volunteers and individuals, who, through their generosity, provide more than 80% of the funds needed to help our youth.

For the past 20 years, more than 150,000 homeless youth have found shelter, transitional housing, food, medical treatment, psycholigical counseling, case management and educational and employment assistance at Covenant House California.
