Title: President, GiGi’s NYC Young Prof essional Board - Volunteer GiGi’s Playhouse NYC 106 W 117th Street New York, NY 10026 Hours: 2-5 hours per week; more during fundraising events. Candidate should be local to NYC. GiGi’s Playhouse NYC GiGi’s Playhouse NYC is the only organization in New York City solely dedicated to the development of individuals with Down syndrome of all ages, from birth through adulthood and at every phase of life. We provide therapeutic, educational, social, and creative arts programs and events year-round, at no cost to participants or their families. We empower our diverse participants to be included in the greater community, to be their whole selves as they truly belong, and to make the world a better place. GiGi’s Playhouse NYC offers a supportive and nurturing environment that enables individuals, parents, expecting parents, and families to connect. With our migration to a more virtual world, GiGi’s Playhouse NYC is at the forefront of innovating and delivering online programs for our growing community, all while being completely funded by our generous donors. Our vision is to see a world where individuals with Down syndrome have a voice, and are accepted and embraced in their families, schools, and communities, to help improve the world and make it a better place to live, work and prosper. Job Summary Seeking a dedicated individual to lead our Young Prof essionals Board (YPB). The individual in this role will collaborate with our National Office, our Board of Directors, other Young Prof essionals Board members, staff, volunteers, participants, and families to help promote our programs, events, fundraisings campaigns, and other activities Major Responsibilities Include · Acquire sufficient knowledge of Down syndrome and the organization to promote its mission and programs and serve as an ambassador for the organization. · Consistently attend and lead all monthly YPB meetings (no more than two absences per calendar year). · Lead monthly YPB meetings: record minutes for all meetings and upload to the NY Drive in a timely manner. · Provide strategic direction for the YPB. · Act as the primary point of contact for the YPB. · Providing guidance and direction to YPB committees as needed and oversee nominations/committee leadership positions. · Act as the point of contact for articulating volunteer needs. · Manage list of projects and action items and ensure timely completion. · Manages all key documents and ensures they are uploaded to NY drive and easy to find. · Leverage personal and professional network to support GiGi’s NYC. · Lead annual Fashion Show: source venue, establish and maintain a mutually agreed upon budget with Board of Directors; source food, clothing, raffle prizes, and drink donations via network; lead Fashion Show Committee and follow up on all deliverables, holding all committee member accountable; secure event sponsors, sell tickets to event; create marketing plan-print and digital, etc.). · Assist with the Silent Auction at annual Gala - source items for auction through private and corporate donations and ensure YPB members are responsible for sourcing 3 items each at minimum. · Participate in the process of identifying and recruiting new YPB members. · Consider all board meetings and board information as confidential. Support publicly all decisions of the board. · Complete required paperwork, background check, and required trainings. · Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings and provide Committee Report. Qualifications * Ability to utilize Outlook email & calendar, Share Point, Microsoft Office, meeting platforms such as Zoom & Teams. * Effective networking skills. * Collaborative, problem-solving, open-minded. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with key stakeholders. * Ability to lead and motivate a team of like-minded young professionals. * Experience with event planning and/or fundraising. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Must commit a minimum of 2 years. We are seeking forward-thinking individuals to increase GiGi’s NYC’s visibility and build our fundraising capabilities. The Outreach Committee will promote awareness of GiGi’s NYC’s mission and programs, coordinate events, and develop and disseminate marketing materials. Location: Hybrid; must be local to NYC or able to travel to NYC. Hours: 5 hours per week Major Responsibilities Include: Conduct research to identify community organizations to partner with, and networking/outreach events that we can attend to build our visibility. Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and universities, etc. Expand base of families served within the Down syndrome community. Increase awareness about Down syndrome through public relations efforts; act as our ambassador at networking/outreach events. Develop and distribute marketing and communication materials, such as brochures, newsletters, press kits. Develop and distribute marketing and communication materials, such as brochures, newsletters, press kits. Serve as the Outreach Committee Leader by recruiting other members to assist with outreach efforts including research, attending outreach events, establishing and maintaining partnerships, etc. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. A passion for research. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on public relations. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Detail- Ability to plan and execute successful events. Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with key stakeholders. Must commit a minimum of 1 year to receive benefits.
