Based in New York City, Healing Hands Abroad is a multi-disciplinary group of medical professionals sharing a common interest: Volunteering time and expertise to bring specialized surgical care to the underpriveliged communities of the world.
Founder and Executive Director Dr. Michael J. Lacqua initially traveled to Central America to provide plastic surgical care to patients of the Cayo District of Belize. Seeing the vital need of other services, Healing Hands Abroad has expanded to provide a variety of surgical services including wound care, podiatry, and general surgery. Volunteer doctors from Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn and Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island are all committed members of the Healing Hands Abroad family.
