Description

Formed in 2001 as a volunteer-driven coalition in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Nevada Energy Star Partners (NVESP) was launched with a mission dedicated to our nation’s need for reducing energy demands, improving home energy efficiencies and achieving higher performance with ENERGY STAR standards in new home development. Through education, outreach and an annual award winning consumer awareness campaign, NVESP educated consumers and helped to develop the new home industry resulting in more than 87,000 ENERGY STAR qualified homes being built in Southern Nevada to date - making it the nation’s leader in Energy Star qualified homes.

In 2008/09, the organization applied for and received IRS 501 c 3 charitable-status. Recognizing our communities’ and State’s needs to align multiple 'green movement’ initiatives for greater community awareness and effectiveness, NVESP expanded its mission to include not only standards for the new home industry but to engage the consumer and entire community in a more energy efficient and sustainable community mind-set, and connect them with our developing 'green’ industry. It also expanded its name to NVESP / GREEN Alliance and now serves as Nevada's longest leading nonprofit organization promoting sustainability through industry and consumer awareness for conservation, energy efficiency and resource preservation.
