Our Programs
Early Literacy and School Readiness. SSC provides training and coaching to early childhood teachers aimed at enhancing their instructional skills using science-based early education curricula and develop appropriate materials and tools.
Social and Emotional Learning. SSC supports schools in creating mechanisms for identifying and intervening with at-risk students. We assist in developing a range of school-based and family-centered support services to meet the social and emotional needs of students and their families.
Safe and Positive Learning Environments. SSC works with schools to implement positive school-wide discipline processes and conducts safety audits, threat assessments, trainings and drills to develop safe school environments. SSC partners with DC’s Emergency Safety Alliance to implement universal emergency readiness and response procedures across DC schools.
Instructional Excellence. SSC enhances the quality of teaching practices utilized by charter teachers through professional development in lesson planning, classroom management, differentiated instruction, co-teaching and other research based instructional strategies.
Parent Engagement. SSC works with school leaders to develop implement effective and meaningful policies and programming around family and community engagement.
School Leadership Development. SSC strengthens charter leadership competencies through professional development trainings and leadership coaching in areas such as school improvement planning, teacher supervision, organizational management and other instructional best practices.
Service Integration. SSC serves as a conduit for information-sharing between DC government agencies, community providers and charter school staff. We provide information on community service available to charters and processes for accessing these services.
