To heal Michigan's victimized girls and women with best-practice treatment programs designed to meet their unique needs while serving other vulnerable children and families within Southeast Michigan.
The Village of Hope Positive Youth Development Program affords youth and their families the holistic approach needed to end cycles of poverty and abuse by equipping them with the tools to become healthy, contributing, members of their communities.
The programs offered are aimed at reducing youth and family risk factors by improving participants’ access to mentors and after-school activities, supporting their academic improvement, working with their families to address challenges and helping them to focus on their futures. Through implementation of the structured site-based mentoring, after-school programming, counseling, as well as classroom based academic supports; this program will divert at-risk youth from involvement in the juvenile justice system. For youth who reside in out-of-home care, this program will expedite their return home and reduce recidivism. The desired outcomes through these programs are:
- Improved connection to school and increased connections to caring adults.
- Decreased risk-taking behavior and contact with law enforcement.
- Reduced recidivism for previously adjudicated youth.
