Description
The Town of Superior is located in Southeast Boulder County and is considered part of the greater Denver Metropolitan Area. The Town, whose current population is estimated at 12, 480, has a rich agricultural and mining history with early inhabitants dating back to the late 1800s. The geographical footprint of the Town lies between the Boulder-Denver Turnpike (U.S. 36) to the north and State Highway 128 to the south, the Town sits mostly in Boulder County with a small southern portion reaching into Jefferson County. The City of Boulder and County of Boulder owns open space contiguous to Superior on the west side of Town which preserves views of the Flatirons and Front Range
Mountains. Superior’s planning area is approximately 4.26 square miles and
neighbors several other cities including Louisville, Broomfield (city and county), Westminster, and Boulder.
