What Is TechConnect? TechConnect is a co-curricular program for Charlotte Mecklenburg high school students that is sponsored and supported by Advantage Carolina in conjunction with the Charlotte Chambers Information Technology Council. Primary Goal of TechConnect: The primary purpose of the TechConnect program is to generate technology interests within the high school community in an effort to: * Promote IT in the classroom by providing real-world technology training to both students and teachers within the CMS school district * Ensure adequate supply of IT skilled workers in Mecklenburg County * Establish a model program for corporate support of IT in our schools * Provide an intern/mentoring program for high-potential IT students and eventually for teachers * Establish linkage between high school IT students and local colleges and universities * Establish a forum for high-potential IT students to access a wider variety of training, mentors and courses * Encourage IT students to stay in school and assist them in identifying and realizing their academic objectives * Attract students who may not have a current active interest in technology topics
