Mission Statement

Southeast Texas Labrador Retriever Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home neglected, abused and unwanted Labrador Retrievers throughout the Southeast Texas Region

Southeast Texas Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. is an all volunteer organization made up of caring individuals that wish to make a difference in the life of homeless and unwanted Labrador Retrievers. The Lab's in STLRR's program come from various shelters around the Houston area where they would have otherwise been euthanized due to continuous overpopulation at local shelters. We are a not-for-profit organization that formed in September of 2002 with only 3 dedicated individuals at the wheel. In December of 2002, S.T.L.R.R. received it's official incorporation papers and we plan to file for 501(c)3 Status in 2003. Since September, we have received overwhelming support from various individuals offering to assist in our cause and we are very thankful for all the wonderful families and individuals that have stepped forward to do the hardest part in rescue, which is to become a foster home. Foster homes are literally the root of all rescue organizations. S.T.L.R.R. does not have a kennel facility to house the dogs in our program. We rely solely on our foster homes and base the number of dogs in our program on how many foster homes we have available. Unfortunately, being one of the top breeds in the United States, shelters are always overflowing with both Pure Bred Labrador Retrievers as well as Labrador Retriever mixes so unfortunately there is no way that we will ever be able to rescue them all but we do our very best for those that we can save.
