The mission of Cary Visual Art is to promote, inspire, encourage, and support visual arts for the uplifting of the human spirit in the Cary community.

Description

Cary Visual Art commissions the placement of public art, supports exhibitions and engages the community through sculpture tours, artist residencies, lectures, and workshops. We view partnerships as an essential component of public art - by involving individuals, community groups and local businesses with the commissioning process, public art has greater impact, levels of appreciation, and longevity. This comprehensive approach has provided a vast array of sites, types of artwork and community involvement.

I've volunteered and worked with many non profits over 15 years, and this is the first one to make me feel like I can take ownership of my volunteer position. My input and background was used to its full advantage, leaving me feeling like I was more than useful, I was absolutely necessary and a part of the team. Clare, the Director, is open and warm and welcomes all feedback and ideas, implementing them effectively. After my first project in November ended, I signed up for 2 more and am excited to help in even more areas. I'd highly recommend volunteering with CVA!
