I recently retired from the Navy and wanted to take some time off before finding a new job, yet didn't want a large gap in my resume. NMCRS Groton has been a great opportunity to fill that gap. I've been volunteering as a Client Services Assistant and training to become a Caseworker. I thought I knew everything about the Navy pay system when I was active, but I've learned so much more volunteering with NMCRS. I've also learned more about the available resources in the area. I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that I'm helping local Sailors. The climate in the office is very friendly, accommodating and flexible. My available hours definitely changed from when I initially started volunteering; however, NMCRS has been accommodating to my availability.
