Founded in 1924 the mission of Summit County Historical Society is to preserve and interpret the history of Summit County and Akron, and to educate regional communities about the people and events that have shaped our rich history.

SCHS is a non profit organization focusing on the history of Summit County, Ohio with artifacts and displays at the Akron History exhibit and various Libraries and County Buildings. We own and operate Perkins Stone Mansion built in 1835 by the family who founded the city of Akron, John Brown House and Old Stone School. We have an adult outreach program and a school outreach program.
