Building bridges between immigrants and their native born Illinois neigbors, through volunteerism, dialogue, and community service.

Description

Uniting America will recruit long time residents and new Americans to work together in the areas of U.S. citizenship, English, and after school tutoring. Immigrant and long-term residents will also work together organizing service events, such as Breast Cancer Walks or River Clean-ups, and Community Unity events to share food, culture, and ideas. Through Uniting America volunteerism, immigrants to Illinois will benefit from neighbor-to-neighbor assistance with English and U.S. citizenship, and their children will benefit from after-school tutoring. Communities will benefit through increased dialogue, friendship, and community service, and through neighbors sharing food and culture.
