I Want To Help! Hospice Nursing students/Allied Health/Pre-med: Do you need volunteer hours for your program for 2023-2024 school year? Inquire today to find out how you can be a part of the Elysian Hospice volunteer team!! We have many opportunities in the DFW area, including Direct Patient Companionship and Educational opportunities/in-services/Covid19 precautions as well. Volunteer hours are logged weekly and letters to your program are provided upon request. How does a volunteer support hospice? Providing respite to family Socialization: reading, playing cards, sewing, simply being a friendly visitor to a patient Office and administrative support Offering their unique talents in any way toward supporting patients, families, and the community at-large Volunteer with our team in the following capacities: PATIENT CARE VOLUNTEER Provide patient care and support services that contribute to the quality of life for patients and their families, such as socialization and active listening, providing companionship, or engagement in music or interested hobbies OFFICE VOLUNTEER Assist the clinical team with day to day operations within the office, such as assisting with patient charts, answering the telephone, filing, copying, and other supportive tasks. Help Bereavement Coordinator by placing bereavement calls to the surviving family members of patients who have died to provide information on bereavement support groups. Additionally, identify (with input and direction of the Bereavement Coordinator) bereaved individuals needing home visits or phone calls from the bereavement staff.
