The Museum is dedicated to leading the citizens of the Joliet and surrounding communities in identifying themselves in place and time.

Description

The Joliet Area Historical Museum is a $9.2 million dollar museum located in the heart of downtown Joliet. We interpret the history of Joliet and the surrounding area. Exhibits include those related to the I&M Canal, the railroads, the steel industry, etc. Guests may tour the Museum on their own or as part of a tour group. The museum provides school programs for local school districts. Public programs and special exhibits round out our offerings.
