The mission of Daytop New Jersey is to deliver a comprehensive substance abuse co-occurring disorders treatment and education program to male and female adolescents. The program is individualized, family-based, cost effective, peer-oriented and multi-disciplinary in nature. Special emphasis is placed on treating those adolescents without adequate financial resources and/or in need of an alternative to incarceration.
Daytop NJ is behaviorally based and individualized to meet the needs of adolescents (male and female) with substance abuse problems. In addition, clients are assisted with conflict resolution, anger management and other emotional concerns. Family participation is strongly encouraged, as it is an integral component to recovery.
Mental health/co-occurring disorders - Daytop recognizes and is committed to working with those adolescents who have a diagnosis of a co-occurring mental health disorder in addition to their substance abuse disorder (i.e. depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder).
At Daytop - The following treatments are offered: Residential Treatment - variable length from 5 - 12 months Intensive Outpatient - three to five visits per week Outpatient - one to two visits per week Re-entry / transitional supportive housing
At the same time we offer: Education Family Counseling
For an adolescent, recovery is impossible without addressing his or her educational needs.
The Rev. Joseph H. Hennen Daytop Preparatory School is over 35,000 square feet and includes:
Classrooms Science Lab Library Computer Science Room Fine Arts Center Music Auditorium
The Rev. Joseph H. Hennen Daytop Preparatory School Small group tutoring to ensure academic progress and standing in the client’s home school district. Preparation for the GED (Graduate Equivalency Diploma). Special Education School for students classified as having educational difficulties due to substance abuse.
New Day School For local students who are classified emotionally/behaviorally disabled and who are in need of treatment for substance abuse. Students will be referred for placement by local school districts in the Morris County Area.
