The mission of the Norwalk Health Department is to prevent and control the spread of disease, promote a healthy environment, and protect the quality of life within our changing community.
The Norwalk Health Department provides a variety of services & programs to fulfill its mission. Health Department staff, teach people about making healthy choices. We inspect restaurants, housing units & salons for safety & sanitation. We test the beach water; provide vaccines to people, including travelers; test & counsel people about sexually transmitted diseases; investigate disease outbreaks to help the community stay healthy & stop the spread of disease. The Health Department is building a volunteer program Emergency Response Team to assist with local health programs & respond to public health emergencies. The Health Department achieved accreditation through PHAB in June 2014.
