Mission Statement

City College of San Francisco is an urban community college serving about 100,000 students annually at nine campuses and many other sites throughout San Francisco. We offer an affordable opportunity to earn associate degrees, prepare for transfer, and pursue career and technical education. City College also offers distance learning and free noncredit courses in many fields.

CCSF provides educational programs and services to meet the following needs of our diverse community:

  • Preparation for transfer to baccalaureate institutions
  • Active engagement in the civic and social fabric of the community, citizenship preparation, and English as a Second Language
  • Achievement of Associate Degrees in Arts and Science
  • Completion of requirements for the Adult High School Diploma and GED
  • Acquisition of certificates and career skills needed for success in the workplace
  • Promotion of economic development and job growth
  • Lifelong learning, life skills, and cultural enrichment

To enhance student success, the college provides an array of academic and student development services that support students' intellectual, cultural, and civic achievements. City College of San Francisco belongs to the community and continually strives to provide an accessible and affordable education as a part of its commitment to serve as a sustainable community resource.

City College of San Francisco and the Mayor's Program, City Build Academy, join forces to educate San Francisco residents to become construction workers. Our program is pre-apprenticeship training. Upon completion of the program, they get hired by local unions and begin their apprenticeship training.

CityBuild Academy began in 2005, in an effort to centralize citywide efforts to develop employment opportunities for San Francisco residents in the construction trades. This program is offered by OEWD in partnership with:

• The Building and Trades Council of San Francisco
• City College of San Francisco
• Local community based organizations
