Mission Statement

The Literacy Coalition of Central Texas breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive literacy services. Literacy is more than knowing how to read. Literacy is opportunity and access. Being literate means having the necessary skills in your toolkit to become self-sufficient within your community.

At the Literacy Coalition, we believe everyone should have the tools they need to reach their full potential, which is why our services and partnerships create a bridge to opportunity.

Amplifying Our Work

  • AmeriCorps Placements
    Literacy Coalition trains and places Texas Family Literacy AmeriCorps and VISTA AmeriCorps members in organizations across Texas communities.
  • Training Providers
    Literacy Coalition develops cutting edge trainings and resources to share with literacy organizations to amplify their work and impact.
  • Creating Partnerships
    Literacy Coalition works with 66 literacy, workforce, and social service partners to boost community impact.

Our vision is to create a Central Texas community that is 100% literate, employable, and engaged. We have a national reputation for implementing innovative, efficient, evidence-based solutions to address the most challenging literacy and workforce development issues for the hardest-to-serve populations in our region.
