The Literacy Coalition breaks the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive literacy services. VISION: We envision a community that is 100 percent literate, employable and self-sufficient. STRATEGY: The core strategy of the organization is to embed its high-quality, proven programming in the business, education and workforce sectors outside of the K-12 system to end the intergenerational cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Programs and services are designed to deepen the impact of local nonprofits, strengthen the business workforce, and build stronger communities..
In 2001, a wide network of literacy providers and community leaders founded the Literacy Coalition of Central Texas in response to the need for a centralized location for literacy services.
Today, the Literacy Coalition works hard to ensure that families and individuals can have the skills needed to reach their full potential. By embedding its high-quality programming in the business, healthcare and nonprofit sectors, the Literacy Coalition helps strengthen the business workforce, bolster nonprofit programs and build stronger communities.
