Mission Statement

WellStar Community Hospice is a not-for-profit hospice dedicated to providing compassionate, quality care for persons who have a life-limiting illness. Professionally trained staff and volunteers provide physical, emotional, and spiritual support to enhance quality of living for patients and families. WellStar Community Hospice is also an educational resource for the community in the areas of grief support and adjustment to loss.

Description

Hospice is a philosophy of caring for those living with a life-threatening illness. The hospice philosophy holds that end-of-life care should emphasize quality of life. The object is to treat the whole person, and not just the disease. The hospice philosophy focuses on patient/family-centered care that addresses the physical, spiritual, emotional and practical needs of the patient.

Volunteers receive unique training for working with terminally ill patients and their families.
