Our volunteers make such a difference in the lives of people who need encouragement and compassion. Heartland provides hospice training/orientation, and we support our volunteers every step of the way. To keep our patients safe, we require references, background checks, drug testing and TB testing. Are you great on the phone? Heartland Hospice is seeking volunteers who are willing to help in our Flint office with both answering the phone and making phone calls. We really need: * A volunteer who is available on Tuesdays for all or part of the day to answer the phone while our staff is in a long meeting. * A volunteer who is available on Thursdays to call our patients and make sure they have the supplies and medications they need before the weekend. Volunteers help our hospice team provide compassionate, quality care to those living with life-limiting illness. Our volunteers work side by side with hospice professionals in providing comfort and care when they are needed most. Take a chance, share a smile, be a friend, hold a hand, make a difference. Do you have a couple of hours a month to share? Consider being a friendly visitor volunteer. Your visit can provide much-needed encouragement and support to a hospice patient and their family caregivers. While you sit with a patient and listen to music, play a game of cards, or watch a movie, their caregiver gets a break to relax a bit. Volunteers are the heart of the Hospice Team. We depend on our volunteers to help us provide the extra love and care our clients and their families need at this time in their life. Other Volunteer Opportunities include: Administrative help in our offices, Special Project Volunteers to assist with our grief camps, Sewing or Knitting lap blankets and shawls, etc., or Bereavement Support to help facilitate grief support groups and provide support to grieving families. Heartland Hospice is seeking knit or crocheted shawls and afghans, handmade quilts, and other sewn items like fidget blankets, etc., for our hospice patients.
