Mission Statement

Our vision is to end hunger in our community. Our mission is to provide food and leadership in the community by uniting and mobilizing resources to empower people to be self-sufficient. Loaves & Fishes Community Services was founded in 1984 and officially incorporated on August 6, 1991 as a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit corporation, for the purpose and mission of providing food and other essentials to DUPAGE county residents in need. Essential services such as public benefits enrollment and empowerment programs are available to all of our clients.

Loaves + Fishes serves more than 700 families each week throughout Naperville and DuPage County. This requires over 1,000 volunteers each month in all areas of operation. We always need more volunteer support and could not exist without it!

I really enjoy volunteering at loaves and fishes because it has a very nice atmosphere. Whenever I volunteer there people are friendly and are always willing to help you out if you don't know something. Another thing I like about loaves and fishes is that they make it very easy for you to sign up and track how many hours you've done. Since I am a high school student this is very important to me because I need to keep track of my community service hours. I have never had a bad experience at loaves and fishes and am positive that if you volunteer there neither will you!!

My first impression was surprise. This place is BIG and so CLEAN. I volunteered in sorting, the other vols were friendly, the music was cheerful and the leader was a volunteer too. It's amazing how much food they give out to the visitors. I saw the carts when they would go to their cars, they were FULL! I am going to try stocking at my next visit. You don't have to do the same thing, or the same time every week. I like that, I can decide according to my schedule. The orientation was interesting, you learn about how everything works together. Check it out, it will make you feel good!
