Mission Statement

Our mission is to end hunger and transform lives! Loaves & Fishes Community Services was founded in 1984 and as a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit corporation. Aside from our weekly grocery shopping, we also offer trainings, certified public benefits, emergency financial assistance and more.

Description

Loaves + Fishes serves more than 10,000 clients each week throughout DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties! This requires hundreds of volunteers each week in all areas of operation. Our volunteer roles vary from driving to sorting and packing food to loading carts into our clients trunks. Most shifts are 2.5 hours but training only takes a few minutes. Spanish fluency is always a need but not required.

We always need more volunteer support and could not help our community without it!

I really enjoy volunteering at loaves and fishes because it has a very nice atmosphere. Whenever I volunteer there people are friendly and are always willing to help you out if you don't know something. Another thing I like about loaves and fishes is that they make it very easy for you to sign up and track how many hours you've done. Since I am a high school student this is very important to me because I need to keep track of my community service hours. I have never had a bad experience at loaves and fishes and am positive that if you volunteer there neither will you!!

My first impression was surprise. This place is BIG and so CLEAN. I volunteered in sorting, the other vols were friendly, the music was cheerful and the leader was a volunteer too. It's amazing how much food they give out to the visitors. I saw the carts when they would go to their cars, they were FULL! I am going to try stocking at my next visit. You don't have to do the same thing, or the same time every week. I like that, I can decide according to my schedule. The orientation was interesting, you learn about how everything works together. Check it out, it will make you feel good!
