Mission Statement
Unmarried Equality (UE) is a national nonprofit organization advocating for equality and fairness for unmarried people, including people who are single, who choose not to marry, cannot marry, or live together before marriage. We are not anti-marriage; we believe that anyone who wants to marry should be able to, but nobody should have to marry to receive benefits automatically enjoyed by married couples.
Description
We are a small organization that is poised for extraordinary growth. We currently have 10,000 members; there are 112 million unmarried people in the U.S. (47% of adults) We educate about and advocate for such issues as domestic partner benefits, health care equality (including hospital visitation rights), employment parity, and the other myriad ways in which unmarrieds are discriminated against.
