THE CAREGIVERS: CARING CARDS FOR SENIORS For those of you who would like to volunteer but do not have a lot of spare time, why not consider creating greeting cards for The CareGivers clients? It’s the perfect Random Act of Kindness! The CareGivers Caring Cards for Seniors Project main objective is to help ease some social isolation amongst The CareGivers clients by sending cards. Most of our clients do not have the social support structure, so anxiety and/or depression can become a struggle. This is where we need the volunteer, to offer a simple gesture...a card for a CareGivers client, to show that these clients do matter. HOW THE CARING CARDS FOR SENIORS WORKS This on-going project is meant to be a "Random Act of Kindness" in which the recipient (our client) is offered a generic card created by a volunteer. Volunteers, decorate a card and write a brief message, such as "Have a Great Day!" or "Sending a card to let you know that you matter" for our clients. All finished cards can be mailed to The CareGivers, 700 E. Industrial Park Drive, Manchester NH 03109. Should you have any questions, please contact our main office at 603.622.4948. WHO CAN VOLUNTEER Any age group and any level of ability can create a Caring Card. Use a social or school group. Involve friends and family members. Get creative. Have fun. MATERIALS You may create your own cards by using items around your home or you may purchase cards from the store and handwrite a general "Thinking of You" or "Have a great day" "Enjoy Your Week" message. Create (1) card or many. We will take as many as you would like to create. GUIDELINES WHEN CREATING CARDS GENDER NEUTRAL: Please keep it gender neutral as we will be randomly dropping these into the mail or the client’s food delivery bags. REFRAIN FROM HOLIDAYS AND/OR RELIGION: Please no religious cards or Holiday cards. Since everyone has different beliefs, we want to be mindful and stay away from specific Holidays or religions. For example, instead of a "Happy Easter" card, create a card that states "Happy Spring" REFRAIN FROM IDENTIFYING INFORMATION: The volunteer may write his/her first name on the card but please do not write your last name, mailing address, or other personal information on the card. Any cards with identifying information will not be used. Our agency will not pass contact information to/from the volunteer to/from our clients. NOTE: All cards will be viewed by our staff prior to sending them out to our clients. Any cards mailed to us that do not adhere to the guidelines above will not be used for distribution to our clients. WHERE DO I SEND COMPLETED CARDS Please mail to: The CareGivers, ATTENTION Michele, 700 E. Industrial Park Drive, Manchester NH 03109 VOLUNTEER TRACKING FOR THIS PROJECT/COURT MANDATED TIME: We will not be tracking any volunteer time for this on-going project. No exceptions. Do you want to get the children in your life involved with an act of volunteering, which will help put smiles on the faces of our clients this Holiday Season? The CareGivers can use your help! Our agency is looking for crafty individuals of any age to decorate and ornaments that will be placed on Holiday gifts to our clients. If you can decorate it, we will take it! PLEASE ONLY WOODEN OR PAPER ORNAMENTS. NO PLASTER CASTING OR GLASS AS THEY WILL BREAK. The best thing is that you can do this from your home, wherever you may live! Each year, The CareGivers puts together an Amazon Wishlist for our clients so that we may make the Holiday Season more enjoyable for the individuals in our local community. We thought that with the gift giving process this year, we would add colorful ornaments to the wrapped items to spread some extra joy as the majority of our clients live alone, with little to no social support. OK -This is where you, your family, and/or organization comes in to help us out: GATHER a couple individuals or a group. GO to your local Hobby store or Dollar Store and purchase Holiday kits, such as wooden cut outs, plastic sun catchers, cardboard or foam cut outs. NOTE: We cannot use items such as ceramic as we do not want these items to break during transport. DECORATE them however you would like with markers or paints. If you would like to add a first name only, a short message, and/or age of the crafty person on the back of the ornament, you may do this as well. MAIL these decorated donation items to The CareGivers at 700 East Industrial Park Drive, Manchester, NH 03109. NOTE: There is no need to contact our organization prior to getting started. If you would like to create/decorate Holiday cards for our clients you may send those along too. Once we receive these items, we will tape the ornament to our client’s gift and deliver this to them for the Holidays. We thank you in advance for your support! NOTE: We will not log hours for community service. No exceptions

ATTENTION TEACHERS AND GROUP LEADERS IN SOUTHERN NH! Do you want to get your class involved with a Random Act of Kindness project this Holiday Season? If so, look no further! The CareGivers of Manchester is looking to start the first annual "Mugs for Seniors" Project. WHAT WE DO: The CareGivers has been offering free monthly food delivery and transportation to appointments for individuals in the Greater Manchester and Nashua areas for over thirty years. Our clients tend to be socially isolated as they have no social support structure. These seniors also struggle financially; living at the poverty level. For most of our clients, they must make daily choices between paying for rent and heat or purchasing food, clothing, and prescriptions. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU: We are looking for interested groups to purchase, decorate, and deliver hand-made holiday mugs to our office in Manchester, so that our staff may deliver these items to our clients during the Holiday Season. Many Dollar Stores and online sites (such as Amazon) offer a cheaper way to purchase decorating kits and pre-packaged hot cocoa and marshmallows specifically for this purpose. NOTE: Please only use package items as we do not want the food items tainted in anyway. GET INSPIRED: There are many websites and You Tube videos showing different ways to put together a cocoa gift mug, so please peruse the sites and get creative! To give you an idea, you may fill a mug with a hot cocoa packet or two, a small package of marshmallows or holiday sprinkles, a chocolate spoon, and/or a candy cane. Make sure to keep your gift together during transport by using a cellophane bag and a ribbon to tie it. HOLIDAY & GENDER NEUTRAL PLEASE: Since we have both male and female clients as well as clients that celebrate different Holiday festivities, please keep the greeting line to a basic phrase, such as "Tis The Season", "Happy Holidays", "Cup Full of Cheer", or "From Me to You...Enjoy" NO IDENTIFYING INFORMATION PLEASE: The creator of the mug may write his/her first name (only) and his/her age on the bottom of the cup, however, no last names or addresses on the item please. WHEN DO WE NEED THESE ITEMS: Since we have a LOT of moving parts for our clients at the Holiday Season, the sooner you can deliver these gifts the better! We will be accepting these crafty donations from October 1, 2023 to December 15, 2023. If you would like to have your group present the items in a video or in person, you may contact our organization. TO VISIT THE SHOPPING LIST: https://a.co/elT9eG3 If you would like to create/decorate Holiday cards for our clients you may send those along too. We thank you in advance for your support! NOTE: We will not clock these hours for court-mandated individuals.

The Caregivers mission is to help the elderly and disabled in the greater Manchester and greater Nashua areas to remain in their homes as long as possible! This allows our clients to maintain a level of independence and comfort. The CareGivers largest offered service is the Caring Rides Program. Caring Rides works with homebound elderly, throughout the Greater Manchester and Greater Nashua area to provide transportation to and from their medical appointments (such as routine dental and medical, day procedures, radiation/chemo, and dialysis-to name a few) as well as grocery shopping trips. These appointments are scheduled 7 days per week, either a.m. or p.m., depending on the needs of our clients. HOW DO I BECOME A CAREGIVERS VOLUNTEER Contact CareGivers for more information about becoming a volunteer. HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO COMMIT The one great aspect of our volunteer program is that volunteers get to pick and choose how much time they can offer. There is no mandatory time commitment and volunteers can assist when their schedule allows. IS IT EASY TO CHOOSE WHAT CLIENT APPOINTMENTS I WANT Yes. When a volunteer joins our team, they will gain 24/7 access to a software application, where they can simply click on the client's appointment to accept it. Not computer savvy? That is OK, we can work with our volunteers that have limited computer knowledge too. AS A VOLUNTEER, WHERE WOULD I BE DRIVING Our software provides the details of each ride to assure its within a distance the volunteer is comfortable to travel. Volunteers have total control over which rides they select! DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING TO TRANSPORT CLIENTS No. The CareGivers clients who travel with volunteers are mobile, and capable of getting to his/her appointment with little to no assistance. Some of these individuals may use a walking device such as a cane, walker, or rollator to get around. Since the volunteer may assist an elderly client down his/her fronts steps or lend a hand helping the client in/out of the vehicle, these tasks would not require any additional skills/training. WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE DO I NEED TO TRANSPORT A CAREGIVERS CLIENT Any. The volunteer will gain access to The CareGivers software, which will tell drivers which clients can be transported more easily and which ones may need a certain vehicle (such as a lower-to-the-ground vehicle or a larger car). We need YOUR help! Many of our clients rely on the Caregivers as their main source of transportation. Please consider joining our team!
