Mission Statement

The mission of Nashville Singers is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education.

Description

Nashville Singers was founded in November of 2008 by a handful of men committed to excellence in vocal and choral performance. The chorus performs a diverse, primarily a cappella repertoire, covering many genres of music.

In their first six years, this volunteer group has grown from four to 16 singers, learned 60 songs, released two audio recordings, racked up 81 performances for 40 organizations in eight counties across Tennessee, and produced a successful concert series which has attracted a combined 2,000+ attendees from 43 cities in 10 states across the USA. Performances by the Nashville Singers have been enjoyed by over 37,000 people to date.

To commemorate their 5th anniversary, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Nashville

Mayor Karl Dean issued proclamations designating November 23, 2013 as "Nashville

Singers Day" in Nashville, Davidson County, and the State of Tennessee.

The mission of the Nashville Singers is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education. This support comes in the form of music education grants, college scholarships, master classes in area schools, and an annual free singing lessons program called Acappella Academy. We have awarded $8,250 in music education grants and scholarships in the last four years.

The singers are all volunteers and travel from Brentwood, Franklin, Hendersonville, Hermitage, Lebanon, Nashville, Portland, Smyrna, and La Vergne to participate in chorus activities.

The Nashville Singers have had the pleasure of singing for several dignitaries, including Nashville Mayor Karl Dean, United States Senator Trent Lott, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, and Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey to name a few.

In 2014, The Nashville Business Journal’s annual "Book of Lists" ranked the Nashville Singers 7th in their list of the "Top 20" performing arts organizations in Nashville.

Membership in Nashville Singers is open to all men who demonstrate the ability, desire and a commitment to excellence in vocal and choral performance. Auditions are required and evaluate each singer’s range, vocal quality, intervals, ability to harmonize, rhythm and visual presentation.

Mission-critical needs include expansion of funding sources, volunteers and new singers. Donations are tax-deductible and help us impact the lives of others by perpetuating vital outreach and music education programs. Nashville Singers is a tax exempt 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
