Mission Statement

The JUMBO SHRIMP CIRCUS ACADEMY is dedicated to developing circus arts through teaching and performance â  enhancing family life, building character, sparking creativity and recognizing the diversity while creating opportunities for unity within the communities it serves. The goals of the Academy are to teach circus arts to children, adults and circus professionals in community centers, schools and other forums; to support and facilitate the creation and performance of new circus material for community enrichment, entertainment and education; and, ultimately, to create a permanent site for circus arts education and performance in the greater Los Angeles area.

Description

The JUMBO SHRIMP CIRCUS ACADEMY (JSCA) has been actively spreading the joys of circus to neighborhoods throughout the Southland. Its outreach has included teaching circus skills workshops and classes to residents and at-risk youth at venues such as: Burbank: The Burbank Parks and Recreation Department Los Angeles: The Zimmer Childrenâ  s Museum, The Micheltorena School, And The Hope Street Family Center Pacoima: The Hubert Humphrey Childcare and Teen Centers, Youth Opportunities Unlimited Pasadena: Kidspace Museum, multiple elementary schools with the Pasadena Learns program
