Mission Statement
Black Women United for Action (BWUFA), founded in 1989, is a volunteer, non-profit community service organization committed to voice the concerns of women, heighten the awareness of the impoverished, and improve the lives of vulnerable families through a grassroots/empowerment approach. Our mission is to voice the needs of women, to heighten their achievements, and to improve the lives of "at-risk" families.
Description
BWUFA has adopted a federally subsidized housing project named Chantilly Mews, located in Chantilly, Virginia. The services we provide them include mentoring, tutoring, helping students obtain higher education, and offering educational and cultural enrichment activities and workshops to help bring families towards self-sufficiency. We also provide in-kind donations such as clothing, food, and other supplies throughout the year. Our other programs focus on events and activities concerning women's issues, the history of slavery, and international outreach.
