UAH works to increase access to food in the state of Utah. We do this by:

  • Changing and/or improving public policy and administrative practices of federal nutrition programs, especially the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly called the Food Stamp Program), and school-based nutrition programs.
  • Working with food pantries and other community partners to start or increase their SNAP outreach and enrollment assistance.
  • Working in community learning centers to connect eligible families to community resources and
  • Providing community resource information on our website, which includes searchable maps and information to help people locate Summer Food sites, emergency food pantries, and farmers’ markets that accept SNAP and the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
  • Working to educate the public about hunger and poverty issues through community presentations and the media.
  • Educating policymakers about hunger and other needs of their low-income constituents.
