Mission Statement

CASA-CAN volunteer guardians ad litem are trained and supported to advocate for the rights of abused and neglected children and to ensure that each child is in a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

Description

Be for the child who has been in 8 foster homes this last year. Be for the child whose mother has been violently battered. Be for the child who needs a permanent home.

Advocate.

The common denominator among volunteers is the heart for our children. Volunteers come from every walk of life and previous experience is not necessary. That's because we offer comprehensive training prior to becoming an officer of the court as a guardian ad litem. You must be 21, participate in an individual interview and undergo background checks prior to attending 30 hours of pre-service training. You will also be required to commit to at least a year and complete 12 hours of ongoing training annually.

When a parent can not or will not protect a child that child needs a voice. You can be that voice. You can protect that child's rights in the court system.

Support and guidance is always available to you in your work to make the future better for a child who may have no future.

Don't let a child slip through the cracks. You can be the voice for a child.
