Description
The Sonoma County Regional Parks Department is a system of 51 parks throughout Sonoma County, from the coast to the Sonoma Valley, from Petaluma in the south to Gualala in the north. The parks encompass redwood forests, oak woodlands, rivers and streams, beaches, and other habitats. They offer recreational opportunities ranging from hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing, boating and swimming to sports fields and playgrounds. This Department also boasts the Environmental Discovery Center (offering science programs for children in grades 1-6), cultural and historical facilities such as Hood Mansion and Watson School, programs such as lifeguard training, and popular events such as the Healdsburg Water Carnival.
