Mission Statement

Tufts Health Plan Foundation provides the funding for ABLE Volunteers, and supports healthy aging programs aimed at improving the lives and health of adults age 55 and over by elevating the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of older adults and enabling them to contribute their experiences and knowledge to their communities.

Description

The ABLE Volunteers program provides structured volunteer experiences for professional adults over the age of 55 who want to volunteer in unpaid professional community service positions at non-profit organizations. Volunteers will use their skills, passion, knowledge and interests for the betterment of their community and society. The program made possible by a grant from the Tufts Health Plan Foundation, is designed to provide meaningful volunteer placements that will enhance the personal and professional lifestyle of the participants and provide valuable volunteer services to non-profit agencies.

To qualify for the ABLE Volunteers, participants must meet certain requirements:

  • Be 55 years of age or older
  • Be able to work without pay
  • Be willing to commit to a community service postiion for a specific period of time and attend scheduled training programs
  • Be fully capable of performing the job requirements without restriction
