Mission Statement
The International Ehrlichiosis Foundation, Inc. is the only non-profit organization dedicated to public education about and the prevention of Ehrlichiosis, a prevalent tick-borne infectious disease that afflicts both humans and animals throughout the world, especially in North America and Europe.
Description
The first Ehrlichiosis infection was diagnosed in Japan in 1954. Ehrlichiosis was first identified in the United States in 1986. Nearly 20 years later, Ehrlichiosis remains a dangerous emerging infectious disease among humans and animals, yet the common disease is underrecognized, leading to many preventable deaths. Knowledge and research about the disease remains scant. The importance of early testing for Ehrlichiosis cannot be stressed enough. If diagnosed early, Ehrlichiosis can easily be treated with the antibiotic Doxycycline.
