Description
The Madison Square Park Conservancy is the successor organization to the Campaign for the New Madison Square Park. This group raised $6 million in public and private funds for the complete redesign and reconstruction of the park, which was completed in the spring of 2001. A permanent park endowment fund has been assembled, currently exceeding $4.4 million. Annual income from the permanent fund helps to sustain Madison Square Park's operations and maintenance, while supplemental funds are raised for park support and park programs. Today Madison Square Park is thriving. In the five years since it was rededicated, the park has begun to offer quality programming and entertainment to children and adults. In addition, it has emerged as one of New York's premier parks offering beautifully landscaped lawns and innovative contemporary art.
