Mission Statement

It is the mission of the BKBIA to enhance the business environment and quality of life in Bixby Knolls. To fulfill this mission the BKBIA has four central goals: 1. To strengthen the organization; 2. To promote and market the district; 3. To retain, strengthen, and recruit new businesses; and 4. To improve the district's common areas. Each goal is accomplished through an aggressive and well-rounded work plan of special projects, marketing activities, and community events.

Description

The BKBIA is a nonprofit organization of over 900 business that was founded in 1989 by the Long Beach City Council at the request of local businesses. It was incorporated in 1994 as a 501(c)6 nonprofit. Each business in the District is assessed annually by the City of Long Beach and these funds are then returned to the BKBIA for activities focused on revitalization, promotion, street aesthetics, and security. The association is governed by an elected eleven member Board of Directors and association work is accomplished through voluntary committees working with an Executive Director and part time staff.
