Mission Statement

GreenHOME's mission is to make environmentally responsible homes available to all. We demonstrate the availability and applicability of affordable, environmentally responsible design techniques and practices for building and landscape, with a focus on building of affordable homes.

Description

GreenHOME is a non-profit organization dedicated to demonstrating and promoting affordable, sustainable design, construction, and landscape practices for homes and communities throughout the Washington, DC area. Through efforts of dedicated volunteers and benefactors, we are demonstrating that "green" housing is for everyone! While innovative environmentally-sensitive designs and practices are often used in expensive model homes, less green building has been done for low and moderately priced housing. GreenHOME aims to fill this void through demonstration building projects in partnership with local non-profit housing developers and community outreach programs. By cutting energy costs, building with reused materials, and employing non-toxic components, GreenHOME makes housing more affordable, healthy, and environmentally-friendly.
