Mission Statement

The Bob Marshall Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring and preserving the trail system in the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex while promoting wilderness values through education. We accomplish our mission through the coordination of volunteer trail maintenance, campsite restoration, and noxious weed eradication projects.

Description

The BMF organizes volunteer efforts to preserve this valuable recreational trail system and to mitigate damage to the wilderness by visitors. The BMF recruits, trains and places volunteers on projects compatible with their strengths, knowledge and time constraints. Projects include reconstructing trails around environmentally fragile and unsafe area; opening trails by clearing them of trees, brush and rocks; closing and restoring the proliferation of new campsites in heavily used areas; constructing and maintaining water diversion structures to prevent erosion; eradicating noxious weeds; and restoring historical structures.
