Mission Statement

The Music Center believes that the arts enhance the lives of all people and are crucial to the development of every child. Its Education Division (MCED) is the Center's bridge to artists and audiences of tomorrow. During the 2002-2003 school year, the MCED's programs produced close to 12,000 arts activities, including performances, workshops, artist-in-residence sessions, and teacher training services. Now in its 25th year, the MCED partners with Los Angeles County schools to create in-depth arts education programs.

Description

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Very Special Arts Festival which celebrates the creative achievements of physically and mentally disabled children. This yearâ??s Festival explores the theme â??My Californiaâ?? through artistic presentations of song, dance, performances, workshops and exhibitions of drawings, paintings and poetry by Southern California students. The FREE daylong festival is attended by over 12,000 students, teachers, parents and community members.

I believe in the Arts and that's not just because I'm an artist! I was raised in a house with classical and contemporary music from a mother who taught piano. I find that music and the Arts are very needed in today;s society. It brings great joy to life!!
