Mission Statement

The Institute of Ecosystem Studies is dedicated to the creation, dissemination and application of knowledge about ecological systems. This knowledge is created through scientific research, disseminated through teaching, writing and exhibits, and applied through participation in decision-making regarding the ecological management of natural resourdces and through promotion of a broader awareness about the importance of ecclogical relationships to human welfare.

Description

The missions of the IES volunteer program is to provide volunteers with educational experiences that are rewarding and stimulating; to give volunteers a feelign of personal satisfaction through contributing to the Institute's mission; to involve members of the local community in the mision of Institute; to provide volunteer support and expertise to all aspects of the Institute's operations; to foster a positive image of IES in the local community.
