The Texas Round-Up is a statewide effort to encourage Texans of all fitness levels to incorporate daily physical activity and healthy choices into their lives. Governor Perry is teaming up with a number of Texas companies in a unique private/public partnership to motivate individuals to add at least 30 minutes of exercise, 5 days a week, through a special 6-10 week program. The Texas Round-Up program includes: A 6-10 week activity training program that provides suggestions and recommendations for making fitness a part of a daily routine. Participants can get guidelines and support from the website. A Governor's Challenge designed to entice all Texas communities to participate. The competition is based on participation (per capita) in the program and the Texas-sized 10K event. The city and/or region with the highest participation rate will be awarded the Governor's Cup and named "Fittest in Texas". For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
A Texas-sized 10K and fitness festival event on April 17, 2004. Participants in the program are encouraged to come to Austin, Texas for this culminating day of physical activity and fun. We need volunteers of all ages for various jobs and shifts available all day of the festival to assist with the 10k and the festival.
