Mission Statement

THREE DOLLAR BILL CINEMA is a nonprofit arts and education organization providing access to queer cinema, a forum for the exchange of ideas, and a venue for queer filmmakers to show their work. We serve our diverse communities by producing the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival and other events.

Description

Three Dollar Bill Cinema provides access to films by, for, and about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender ( LGBT) people and their families, and a forum for LGBT filmmakers to share and discuss their work with audiences. We curate themed screenings throughout the year and produce programs in partnership with other arts, cultural, and service delivery organizations in the Greater Seattle area.

Our Programs

The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival
Our chief program is The Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival. The festival has been a part of the Greater Seattle community and beyond since 1996. The largest event of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, the festival continues to gain industry and audience recognition for showcasing the latest and greatest in queer film, from major motion picture premieres to emerging talent. The festival is also an important venue in the local Seattle film scene, and inspires members of our community to express their creativity through film and video.

Translations: The Seattle Transgender Film Festival
Three Dollar Bill Cinema and Gender Odyssey present this groundbreaking film festival. All of the programs Three Dollar Bill Cinema produces are inclusive of the transgender community. However, this trans-focused event showcases films made by, for, or about transgender people

Cineoke!
It's like Karaoke -- only better. You're the star of your favorite movie musical. Pick any scene to sing along to, while the film and lyrics are projected onto the screen. There are hundreds of songs to choose from. Cineoke happens every second Monday, at the Rendezvous' Jewelbox Theater. Doors open at 6:30pm, Cineoke starts at 7:00pm.

We also produce other events throughout the year and co-present diverse screenings with other community organizations.
